greatness

Sounds like it came from a movie or a game soundtrack, very well arranged.

race1 responds:

Thanks. If that's what it sounds like then I've succeeded. I wanna make music for games and movies or TV shows or forwhatever. I like making backgroundmusic as odd as that sounds.

Just so you know... this was also made in FL... VST plugins are the key... well one of them. Thanks for reviewing.. :)

very cool

I dig it dude, jazzy trancy stuff. I dunno what to tell you, its sweetness.

race1 responds:

Thanks I'm glad you like it.

Fall of Troy!

Sounds alot like Fall of Troy to me, good shit though dude. Props.

sculpted-cold responds:

Not enough rape of the pentatonic scale, imo. :P

Thanks, duder.

meh

I'm giving you a 4/5 7/10 because I love CCR, but I don't like your arrangement. There are lots of improvements that could be made, but greatness goes to you for putting a CCR cover on NG, w00ts! For one, your open hats need to be...quited I guess, and your guitar isn't prominent enough. Bring it to the front. And if it were me, I'd replace the piano with a 12 string strumming.

Astharia responds:

Thanks for your constructive comment :)

woa dude

Seems like you got some issues to work out with God dude. And you said it best, very repetitive. I find its choppiness abrasive and unwanted. I would make a few listening suggestions to you, but I bet you've already delved deep into them; Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, and on the ligher side of things Shadow's Fall, Unearth, and The Fall of Troy. Heavy ass bands with alot of variance and inspiration, could push you in the direction your shooting for I think.

Cereal responds:

Thanks for the well thought out review.

hmm

It doesn't sound very christmasy, and I can't say I recognize the melody...not that I'm a devout Christian, but I do know a few Christmas songs. I like the arrangement nonetheless, it seems very well put together. Have you done "God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen"? That's one of my favorites, and I'd like to hear it in this style. Needless to say, if you haven't done that one, I will :P heheh. I'm only giving you a nine because you said this is going on your Christmas album...and like I said, it doesn't sound very christmasy to me. If it were for any other occassion it'd be a ten.

Hypothyptica responds:

Yeah, it's not one of the better-known carols. It's a traditional French carol and "revolves around the birth of Jesus Christ, and is told from the perspective of shepherds playing simple instruments--flutes and drums--the onomatopoetic sound of which gives the song its name; 'patapan' is meant to mimic the sound of the drum, and an accompanying lyric, 'tu-re-lu-re-lu,' the flute..." according to wikipedia.

Mannheim Steamroller also does a nice version of this song as well.

But thank you for your review anyhow! And I will very much consider doing "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". The only thing holding me back is time! :D
