hmm

It doesn't sound very christmasy, and I can't say I recognize the melody...not that I'm a devout Christian, but I do know a few Christmas songs. I like the arrangement nonetheless, it seems very well put together. Have you done "God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen"? That's one of my favorites, and I'd like to hear it in this style. Needless to say, if you haven't done that one, I will :P heheh. I'm only giving you a nine because you said this is going on your Christmas album...and like I said, it doesn't sound very christmasy to me. If it were for any other occassion it'd be a ten.

Hypothyptica responds:

Yeah, it's not one of the better-known carols. It's a traditional French carol and "revolves around the birth of Jesus Christ, and is told from the perspective of shepherds playing simple instruments--flutes and drums--the onomatopoetic sound of which gives the song its name; 'patapan' is meant to mimic the sound of the drum, and an accompanying lyric, 'tu-re-lu-re-lu,' the flute..." according to wikipedia.

Mannheim Steamroller also does a nice version of this song as well.

But thank you for your review anyhow! And I will very much consider doing "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". The only thing holding me back is time! :D

Full Metal Jacket, too easy dude, come on. What other movie do they issue the marine corps oath to the rifle in? Its kind of repetitive, I'll give you an 8 though, it's well layed after all. And I do dig the groove with the piano, nice stuff.

Sweetness

4 weeks to create something thats only 2 minutes long, seems kinda cumbersome huh? heheh, I feel your pain and appreciate your accomplishment though. Very well put together, if I have anything to say as far as criticism is concerned it would be to make your melody in the second part (not the bass) more prominent and let it repeat a second or even third time, not only to add longevity to the song but to add appreciation to the other parts further in the song. Sweetness, your the first to get a 5/5 10/10 from me. Congrats, heheh, if its worth anything.

happy hardcore again, w00t!!

Definately dislike the detuning on your first melody...love the piano at the breakdown though. Seems like this style is getting all the more popular, much to my dismay, although I refuse to rate you based on my own personal preferences. That just seems wrong. For rememberance, realize your progression technique used in this song is great, although I think you should seek different ways of adding variety and uniqueness than what you've used here.

meh...

It's alright, though I'm afraid your mixing two styles that...don't really mix so well. I mean, it's different, I'll give you that. But breakbeat and trance are...way different dude, like different ends of the spectrum. Like mixing communism and fascism. I'll give you a lucky number sleven for this, but I think you could do better relegating yourself to one idea or the other, rather than mixing the two.

Good stuff!

I dig it dude, a little. I mean, its sweet for what it is, though its not my style of music. Happy hardcore always seemed a little...too repetitive for me. Its all god though, hell of a performance for what it is. 8+thumbsup
