creepy

Sort of an industrial drum n bass song. I'm digging it, because I can pick it apart and tell what you were trying to do...but the mixing is sub-par, once everything gets thrown in there in the chorus its really difficult to distinguish whats going on. Spend a bit more time in the mixer with the EQ and this song will be golden my friend.

hellz yeah

I'm not really into the hip hop scene, but this...this is good, and it hits home. Just broke up with somebody, this brings a smile to my face. Props.

Phaded responds:

Hah. That's exactly what I was looking for. I want to touch home with my fans. With people in general.

I appreciate your honesty, and your vote.
[Yeah, I noticed you 5'd as well.] =]

Either way, this song is one of those 'you're not the only one' songs. I'm glad I made one of my listeners feel better man.
It puts a smile on my face that I have a new fan of hip-hop that wasn't before.

=]
Hope you feel better.
I did after I wrote this song.
Maybe you should write one too. =P

I was digging it...

Until that weird annoying distorted thing came in around 00:26. Classic dance beat, cool, well mixed. Lots of breaks, also cool. Dig the pads around 1:30, very nice. The chorus at 2:04 is the best part. Definite props on that. And now when the distorted annoying thing comes back it isn't so out of place.

All in all pretty good piece. I would've done a couple things differently in your arrangement, but thats an each to his own sort of deal. Dig it 4/5 8/10

Tilkanuts responds:

Thanks for the criticism and i'm glad you dig it! lol

heheh, cool

Glad to see another floyd fan or two around. I was never much of a fan of the 60s Pink Floyd alubms, but Wish You Were Here (the entire album) was definately a tribute to mr. Barrett's influence on the band, and such could be heard and attributed to him throughout their entire career..up until the Wall at least. After that, things just went south. Happens to the best of us. You get a 10/5 for nostalgia and bringing some great music to newgrounds, but I can't approve of a mortal attempting to mimic a God. Make this your last cover of Syd, and you'll be alright :-P

Iranarama responds:

Thanks for your review, but i was not trying to "mimic" a god, I wanted to make this song my own, and not an exact copy of Syd's ;)
It sounds nothing like the original (in my opinion) and that is why I'm happy with the result!

Kudos

I kinda always thought the original was a bit fast for the melody anyhow. I dig the beat, the hip-hopness is a nice spice to add to this. Dig it.

whoo!

Great job dude...i thought about doing this song, but now...no, no way in hell anyone could top this take on it. Props.

yeah....

I can rip midi's and apply them to a piano vst too...

Your only accomplishment here is creating the necessary transitions, which are smooth and on point...but...still..come on, why is this so popular? Seriously? Its just a bunch of midi's meshed together with a piano vst...anyone with half a brain could tell it's a synthesized piano...dur...

darphfluffy responds:

it's popular because people are dumb. by the way, midis are for chumps. I stopped using them long before i made this.

awesome!

Very much like some classic Nine Inch Nails, not weird at all if you look at the arena it's poised for. I dig the silence breaks, but I thinka stronger beat would do it well. Thats my style though, it fits the genre well. This is great work, I can't fault you for anything in it, honestly.

Good sh1t

This is some great stuff, love the percussion and the bass in the verse. But I think you could use a bit of level work in your chorus, bring you melody guitar up and your rythm down a bit, maybe boost the bass in that part too. Otherwise, superb industrial sound. Nice work.

oi, easy on the compreZz0r

Aside from being way too compressed, the song is very interesting. I like the intricacy of your melody's and the way things blend together, you've got the potential to make some great music, but you need to learn more about mixing..or let someone else do it, heh. Also, I'm missing the breakbeat part of the song. Cool easy going trancy/ambient feel though, i dig it.

As a tip, listen to your final mix on an average sound system, nothing too terribly impressive, like some cheap speakers in a car or a $40 set of 2.1 computer speakers. That'll give you an idea of how the average joe is perceiving your music, rather than what it sounds like rendered at maximum bit rate with some badass headphones or studio monitors.
